Preview: Liverpool vs. Hull City

Sports Mole previews Wednesday's Premier League clash between Liverpool and Hull City at Anfield.

Liverpool will attempt to recover from back-to-back Premier League defeats when they welcome Hull City to Anfield on New Year's Day.

The Reds were top of the table at Christmas, but losses to Manchester City and Chelsea have left them in fifth spot, just two points ahead of sixth-place Manchester United.

The Merseysiders have been impressive on their own patch this season, however, with eight wins from their nine matches, scoring 25 times in the process and conceding just six.

The last time they welcomed Hull to Anfield was in September 2009, when they were 6-1 winners. However, they were defeated 3-1 at the KC Stadium in the reverse match earlier this season.

Hull will enter the match full of confidence following their 6-0 win over Fulham at the weekend, that result moving them into 10th spot in the table.

The Tigers have lost just two of their 10 matches at home this season, but have struggled on the road, with just one win and two draws from their nine league games on their travels.

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has no fresh injury concerns from the defeat to Chelsea at the weekend and could name the same XI.

Jose Enrique remains a long-term absentee as their left-back problems continue, while Steven Gerrard and Daniel Sturridge remain on the sidelines.

Hull, meanwhile, could recall Danny Graham to their attack after the forward sat out the win over Fulham. Alex Bruce is also pushing for a start in defence, but Tom Huddlestone and Jake Livermore will continue in the middle of midfield.
