Tony Cottee: 'West Ham United must stop Luis Suarez'

Former West Ham United striker Tony Cottee feels that the Hammers have to stop Luis Suarez if they are to end their 50-year hoodoo at Anfield.

Former West Ham United striker Tony Cottee believes that the Hammers have to stop Luis Suarez if they are to beat Liverpool at Anfield for the first time in 50 years.

West Ham last recorded a win at Anfield in 1963 and they travel to face Brendan Rodgers's side in need of points to secure their Premier League status for next season.

Cottee told the Daily Star: "In Suarez they have a player who can win a game on his own and they still have Steven Gerrard, who has often been a thorn in our side.

"When you think of all the great players and great West Ham teams that have been to Anfield over the years, it is amazing that none of them have won in 50 years!"

The Hammers are currently 12th in the Premier League, just six points clear of the relegation zone.
