Saudi Arabian club Al-Ettifaq reportedly reach an agreement over a fee for Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson.

Al Ettifaq have reportedly reached an agreement over a transfer fee for Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson.

The England international, who joined Liverpool from Sunderland in 2011, was recently identified as a transfer target by the Saudi Pro League side.

Newly-appointed Al Ettifaq boss Steven Gerrard is keen to reunite with his former Liverpool teammate in Saudi Arabia.

After initial reports suggested that Henderson decided against the move, it emerged that the experienced midfielder had verbally agreed a lucrative deal with Al Ettifaq.

However, Liverpool insisted that they would not let Henderson leave in a cut-price deal, as they braced themselves for an approach.

According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, Al Ettifaq have now reached an agreement in principle with Liverpool over a fee for Henderson.

The Saudi Arabian club will pay a £12m fee plus add-ons for the 33-year-old, who is set to put pen to paper on a three-year deal with Al Ettifaq.

The two clubs are waiting to finalise the required paperwork before Henderson's Liverpool departure can be officially announced.

Henderson is set to leave the club after making 492 competitive appearances, chipping in with 33 goals and 61 assists.

During his time at Anfield, he has won eight pieces of silverware, including the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup, EFL Cup, UEFA Super Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup.

Henderson is not the only Liverpool midfielder on the verge of completing a move to Saudi Arabia, with Fabinho expected to join Al-Ittihad, who are managed by former Wolverhampton Wanderers boss Nuno Espirito Santo.

The Brazil international has already agreed personal terms, and he is now close to joining Al-Ittihad in a £40m transfer.

However, the Merseyside club have made it clear that they will not be selling Colombian forward Luis Diaz, amid interest from Al-Hilal.
