Liverpool 'join Everton in Axel Witsel race'

A report claims that Liverpool will battle Everton and Napoli for the signature of Zenit St Petersburg midfielder Axel Witsel this summer.

Liverpool are reportedly ready to battle Everton and Napoli for the signature of Zenit St Petersburg midfielder Axel Witsel.

On Saturday, Witsel's father Thierry revealed that Everton and Napoli were battling to sign his son from Zenit in this summer's transfer window.

The central midfielder's club future had been put on hold due to his participation in Euro 2016, but following Belgium's elimination, the speculation has resumed.

According to The Mirror, Liverpool are considering a move for the Belgian international after missing out on Grzegorz Krychowiak, who has joined Paris Saint-Germain.

It is understood that Zenit value Witsel in the region of £30m.
