Liverpool 'won't overpay in pursuit of Southampton's Adam Lallana'

Liverpool reportedly refuse to pay over the odds for Adam Lallana as Southampton hold out for an increase in the Reds' £20m bid.

Liverpool will reportedly refuse to pay over the odds for Southampton midfielder Adam Lallana this summer.

The Merseyside outfit are said to be in talks with the Saints regarding a possible £20m move.

However, it has been suggested that Southampton are holding out for a higher bid due to the fact that 25% of the fee will have to be paid to Lallana's former club Bournemouth.

According to the Daily Star, the Saints want £26m plus add-ons, which could rise to £30m, but Liverpool officials are not prepared to pay over the odds for the England international.

Reports have stated that Liverpool would prefer to tie up the deal before Lallana flies to Brazil for England's World Cup campaign next month.
