Crystal Palace 'still interested in Eliaquim Mangala'

Crystal Palace are still interested in signing Manchester City centre-back Eliaquim Mangala despite nearing the signing of Mamadou Sakho from Liverpool, claims a report.

Crystal Palace are reportedly still interested in signing Manchester City centre-back Eliaquim Mangala, despite the Eagles nearing the acquisition of Mamadou Sakho from Liverpool.

It is understood that Palace have agreed a £26m deal with Liverpool for the transfer of Sakho on transfer deadline day.

It had been thought that the expected arrival of Sakho would end Palace's interest in Mangala, but according to Sky Sports News, the London club are still considering a late approach for the City centre-back.

Mangala, 26, moved to the Etihad Stadium in a £31.8m deal from Porto in the summer of 2014.

The defender has made 64 appearances in all competitions for the Citizens, but he spent last season on loan at Valencia after being deemed surplus to requirements by Pep Guardiola.
