Real Madrid have reportedly identified Liverpool winger Raheem Sterling as an ideal replacement if Angel di Maria leaves the Bernabeu this summer.
Despite helping the Blancos to a historic 10th Champions League title in May, the Argentina international has been linked with a move away from the Spanish capital.
If his departure materialises, The Mirror claims that the European champions will turn their attention toward Sterling, who starred for the Reds and helped them to a second-placed finish in the Premier League last season.
Sterling's stock has risen further in recent days after emerging as one of England's stand-out performers in an otherwise dismal World Cup campaign for the already-eliminated Three Lions.
The 19-year-old's contract at Anfield expires in 2018.
