Preview: Luton Town vs. Hull City - prediction, team news, lineups

Sports Mole previews Saturday's Championship clash between Luton Town and Hull City, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.

Luton Town welcome Hull City to Kenilworth Road on Saturday afternoon looking to extend their unbeaten streak in the Championship to five games.

Despite their recent improvement, the Tigers make the long trip South on the back of a 2-1 reverse at home to relegation rivals Peterborough United.

There have been times this season when Nathan Jones has been left frustrated with his side for a number of reasons, most notably conceding a three-goal lead against Swansea City.

However, Jones would have had no complaints with the Hatters twice coming from behind to earn a 2-2 draw at Derby County on Tuesday night.

Although they remain with just four wins from 13 games, a sixth draw has kept the club within three points of fifth position ahead of a favourable fixture.

Given their experience versus Swansea, complacency will never be a factor for Luton going forward, and they now possess the fourth-best attacking record in the division.

Elijah Adebayo scored Luton's late equaliser at Pride Park, the forward extending his recent tally to five goals from six appearances.

Having netted just nine goals all season, Hull boss Grant McCann is desperate for one of his frontman to show such a rich vein of form.

Although Josh Magennis got on the scoresheet in midweek, only two Hull players have netted more than once since their return to the Championship.

The Tigers have a respectable record at the back with just seven goals being conceded in five games, but they need to find something extra to move outside of the relegation zone.

Hull have collected just one point from five away fixtures since their 4-1 victory over Preston North End on the opening day of the season.

Team News

Having taken the bold step of changing system and personnel after just 31 minutes against Derby, Jones could revert to the team which made an impression after making that decision.

That would see Fred Onyedinma, who got on the scoresheet, and Admiral Muskwe handed starting roles over Kai Naismith and Jordan Clark.

Henri Lansbury is also pushing for a recall after making an impression during the final quarter at Pride Park.

Richard Smallwood is expected to take the place of Hull teammate Tom Huddlestone, who sustained a hamstring injury on Wednesday night.

George Moncur will also hope to get the nod over George Honeyman, but McCann is unlikely to make widespread alterations.

Luton Town possible starting lineup:
Sluga; Bree, Lockyer, Bradley, Bell; Mpanzu, Rea; Onyedinma, Cornick, Muskwe; Adebayo

Hull City possible starting lineup:
Ingram; Coyle, Bernard, Greaves, Elder; Smallwood, Docherty; Lewis-Potter, Honeyman, Wilks; Magennis

We say: Luton Town 2-0 Hull City

McCann may encourage his Hull players to throw more caution to the wind at Kenilworth Road in a bid to get back on track. However, we can only back the home side to prevail, the Hatters seemingly in good shape to record three points with the added bonus of a clean sheet.
