How Manchester City could line up against Hoffenheim

Ahead of Tuesday's Champions League clash between Hoffenheim and Manchester City, Sports Mole looks at how City could line up in Germany.

Manchester City head into Tuesday's Champions League encounter with Hoffenheim looking to respond to the disappointment of defeat against Lyon.

The Premier League champions began the competition as favourites to lift the trophy in June, but losing to the French outfit has left Pep Guardiola's team with plenty of work to do in Group F.

However, Guardiola will be encouraged ahead of the trip to Germany, with City having moved to the top of the domestic standings with a 2-0 victory over Brighton & Hove Albion.

Guardiola has a number of selection dilemmas with Liverpool to follow at the weekend, and here Sports Mole looks at how his side could line up against the Bundesliga outfit.

Out: Kevin De Bruyne (knee), Benjamin Mendy (ankle), Claudio Bravo (Achilles), Eliaquim Mangala (knee)
Doubtful: Sergio Aguero (foot)

Guardiola must decide whether to take a risk on Sergio Aguero, with the Argentine struggling to shake off a foot problem sustained during the early part of September.

The trip to Anfield on Sunday could be enough for the Spaniard to select Gabriel Jesus in his place, and David Silva may also be handed a rest ahead of the short journey to Merseyside.

Danilo has shaken off the injury which kept him out of the opening weeks of the campaign and could start at left-back, while John Stones and Vincent Kompany may return having only been named on the bench at the weekend.

Ilkay Gundogan missed out altogether against the Seagulls, but the Germany international could partner Fernandinho in the centre of the pitch.

Leroy Sane should get the nod over Riyad Mahrez, having been rested for the final 19 minutes at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday.
