Manchester City team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Leeds United

Sports Mole rounds up all of Manchester City's latest injury and suspension news ahead of Wednesday's Premier League clash with Leeds United.

Manchester City resume their quest for a third successive Premier League title when they travel to Elland Road to tackle Leeds United on Wednesday evening.

Pep Guardiola's men are five points behind leaders Arsenal in the table at the time of writing, but that gap could increase to eight if the Gunners overcome West Ham United on Boxing Day.

The reigning English champions played out a five-goal EFL Cup thriller with Liverpool upon their return to competitive action last week, and a 3-2 success saw Guardiola's charges advance to the quarter-finals.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up Man City's latest injury and suspension news ahead of their contest with the Whites, who are 15th in the rankings with 15 points.

Kalvin Phillips

Status: Out
Type of injury: Fitness
Possible return date: Unknown

Kalvin Phillips recovered from shoulder surgery in time to make England's squad for the 2022 World Cup, but the former Leeds man arrived back from Qatar "overweight" according to Guardiola, and he will miss out on a reunion with his old club while he works his way back to match fitness.

Ruben Dias

Status: Out
Type of injury: Thigh
Possible return date: Unknown

Ruben Dias sustained a hamstring injury during Portugal's World Cup quarter-final defeat to Morocco, and there are fears that the centre-back could be sidelined for up to a month with the problem.

Julian Alvarez

Status: Out
Type of injury: Other
Possible return date: January 5 (vs. Chelsea)

Argentinian World Cup hero Julian Alvarez is enjoying an extended break in the wake of his successful Qatar exploits, and Guardiola is unlikely to rush the attacker back before City's first fixture of the New Year against Chelsea on January 5, meaning that he will miss the trip to Leeds and his side's New Year's Eve clash with Everton.
