Gareth Barry may be forced to fight for his place in midfield at Manchester City following the captures of Jack Rodwell and Javi Garcia.

Manchester City midfielder Gareth Barry could face a fight to keep his position in Roberto Mancini's team following the acquisitions of Jack Rodwell and Javi Garcia.

The pair joined the Premier League champions during the summer transfer window and the England international, who has missed City's three league fixtures due to a hernia problem, is aware of the duo's abilities.

"I know Jack better because he's an English guy and has been playing in the Premier League for a few years and he's a great addition to the squad," The Express quotes Barry as saying. "This is the longest period of my career that I've been sidelined with injury."

Barry could be fit for this weekend's fixture against Stoke City.
