Manchester City Council announce plans to lay a blue tarmac pathway near to Manchester City's former Maine Road home to celebrate the club's Premier League success.

Manchester City Council is planning to lay a blue tarmac pathway in Moss Side to commemorate the Manchester City's first English league title in 44 years.

Council workers intend to begin the project later this year and name the road, which will be opposite the former site of Maine Road, Blue Moon Way.

City legend Mike Summerbee said of the proposal: "Maine Road remains a tremendously special part of the city to all Manchester City fans.

"You can feel the emotion whenever you drive to that part of the city and I think this is a wonderful idea to help recognise the site of the old stadium.

"I'm sure it will help supporters to relive their memories of the amazing times we had at Maine Road."

Roberto Mancini's men sealed the Premier League in dramatic circumstances with a 3-2 win over Queens Park Rangers last weekend.
