Eliaquim Mangala targets consistency

Manchester City defender Eliaquim Mangala admits that the challenge for him is to produce his best form on a consistent basis this season.

Manchester City defender Eliaquim Mangala has admitted that the pressure is on him to produce his best on a consistent basis this season.

After joining the club for a reported £42m from Porto a year ago, Mangala was often criticised for poor performances in his debut campaign as City lost out to Chelsea in the title race.

However, the Frenchman has been impressive in his side's fine start to the Premier League season, and he is confident of maintaining his form after being put under pressure by the arrival of Nicolas Otamendi.

"I have benefited and learned from the difficulties of last season," he told reporters.

"I must be efficient and consistent through the club season, both in the Premier League and in the Champions League and then when I'm with France, I must give assurance to the coach and then the rest is up to him."

City return to action with a trip to Crystal Palace next weekend.
