John Stones: "Sour feeling" after Chelsea loss

Manchester City defender John Stones admits that his teammates are left with "quite a sour feeling" following their defeat to Chelsea.

Manchester City centre-back John Stones has admitted that his teammates have been left with "quite a sour feeling" after their 3-1 loss on home soil to title rivals Chelsea today.

The Citizens had led the encounter thanks to a Gary Cahill own goal on the cusp of half time, but were picked apart after the break with strikes from Diego Costa, Willian and Eden Hazard.

The result saw the Blues usurp City at the top of the table, opening up a gap of four points between the two sides.

"There's quite a sour feeling running through everyone's minds, I suppose," Stones told Sky Sports News afterwards. "It's a difficult one to take in the end. I don't think the score reflected the way we played. In my opinion, it should have been us 3 them 1 but that's football.

"From how we played in the first half and the second half, there's a lot of positives to take and we're moving forward as a team: playing out from the back, creating a lot of chances. We need to take those early in the second half and it will be a different game; in the same respect, we need to keep them out in the other end. It was a strange second half for everyone.

"We kept creating chances after missing and that's great character to the forwards and all the boys that were getting in those positions. We just got done and they were clinical when they got their chances."

City next welcome Celtic in the Champions League in midweek before travelling to champions Leicester City in the league next Saturday.
