Yaya Toure strike seals Manchester City win

Manchester City beat Swansea City at the Etihad to keep pace with Chelsea at the top of the Premiership table.

Manchester City have secured a vital 2-1 win against Swansea City this afternoon to keep pace with Chelsea at the top of the Premier League table.

The home side made a bright start to the game, with the in-form Sergio Aguero looking particularly dangerous during the opening exchanges.

It was Swansea who made the breakthrough, however, when Bony got in behind the City defence before dinking the ball past Joe Hart.

The goal was just reward for Swansea's impressive start, which saw Garry Monk's men pass the ball around with confidence and flair.

City eventually got an equaliser when Jesus Navas's cross from the right wing was met by Jovetic in the centre of the box.

The hosts, who had looked sloppy up to that point, soon sprung into life following the strike and Jovetic almost got onto the end of Samir Nasri's dangerous cross before Ashley Williams cleared.

Lukas Fabianski then denied Aguero before Gael Clichy hit the post with a thunderous strike from 30 yards as City turned the screw just before the break.

Swansea came out with renewed determination after the restart, and came close to regaining the lead as Jefferson Montero was played through on goal by Bony, but his effort was smothered by Hart.

Despite the away side's encouraging spell City gradually took control of the game and they went in front when Yaya Toure capped a slick passing move by hitting a low shot past Fabianski and into the net.

Bafetimbi Gomis was presented with a wonderful opportunity to equalise for Swansea late on but he poked wide when clean through on goal, meaning City went home with the points.
