Manchester City 'begin search for Sergio Aguero replacement'

A report claims that Pep Guardiola intends to bring in a replacement for Sergio Aguero ready for next season, with Man City's leading scorer expected to leave in 2020.

Manchester City have reportedly started searching for Sergio Aguero's long-term successor ahead of the start of the 2019-20 campaign.

The Citizens are expected to wave goodbye to their club-record scorer in two years' time when his latest contract expires, as he intends to play for Independiente in his native Argentina.

According to Metro, Pep Guardiola hopes to bring in a replacement ready for next season and he already has a few options lined up.

Guardiola wants the new striker to learn from Aguero for 12 months before leading the line himself, with Gabriel Jesus being deployed in a slightly deeper position.

The report also indicates that City are happy to let their leading marksman leave on a free in 2020 as a good-will gesture, granted he joins Independiente.
