Juventus line up a £21.7m January offer for Manchester City midfielder Ilkay Gundogan, according to a report.

Juventus are reportedly keen to sign Manchester City midfielder Ilkay Gundogan in January.

The 31-year-old's future at the Etihad Stadium is currently being called into question, with his contract at the club due to expire at the end of the campaign.

Barcelona have recently been credited with an interest in the German, with the Catalan outfit looking to sign a replacement for Sergio Busquets next summer.

However, according to Calciomercato, there is also genuine interest from Juventus, with the Old Lady lining up a January move for the experienced midfielder.

The report claims that the Italian giants view Gundogan as the ideal player to boost their squad in the middle of the season, with the club struggling thus far in 2022-23.

Massimiliano Allegri's side face a battle to qualify for the last-16 stage of the Champions League, as they have only picked up three points from their four Group H matches to sit third in the section.

The Old Lady are five points behind second-placed Benfica following their surprise 2-0 defeat to Maccabi Haifa on Tuesday night.

Juventus have also found it difficult to show their best form in Serie A this season, collecting just 13 points from nine matches, which has left them down in eighth position in the table ahead of Saturday's clash with Torino.

Allegri's team allegedly believe that a January offer in the region of €25m (£21.7m) would be considered by Man City, as the Citizens are reluctant to lose him on a free transfer next summer.

Gundogan made the move to Man City from Borussia Dortmund in 2016, and he has represented the club on 266 occasions in all competitions, contributing 51 goals and 34 assists in the process.

The midfielder has won four Premier League titles, one FA Cup and four EFL Cups during a highly-successful period at the Etihad Stadium.

The German remains an important player for the Citizens, meanwhile, making 13 appearances in all competitions this season, contributing two goals and one assist in the process.

Gundogan was an unused substitute in Man City's 4-0 win over Southampton in the Premier League last weekend, but he played the full 90 minutes of the Champions League goalless draw with Copenhagen on Tuesday, which saw Pep Guardiola's side book their spot in the knockout round of the competition.
