Manchester City are reportedly confident of beating Bayern Munich to the signature of Atletico Madrid midfielder Rodri.
The 22-year-old returned to Atletico from Villarreal last summer and excelled during the 2018-19 campaign, making 47 appearances for Diego Simeone's side in all competitions.
The midfielder has reportedly asked to leave the Wanda Metropolitano this summer, however, amid suggestions of interest from the Premier League champions.
Bayern have also been linked with a swoop for the Spain international, who has a £62.5m release clause in his contract with Atletico.
However, according to the London Evening Standard, Pep Guardiola's side are closing in on a deal for Rodri, who will become the most expensive player in the club's history if he completes a move to the Etihad Stadium.
The seven-time Spain international is regarded as the long-term successor to Fernandinho at the base of the City midfield.
