Manchester City to meet Rodri release clause?

A report claims that Manchester City have set their sights on Atletico Madrid midfielder Rodrigo, who is available for £60m this summer.

Manchester City have turned to Atletico Madrid's Rodri in their search for a new holding midfielder, according to a report.

The Citizens are actively seeking a long-term heir to Fernandinho, who turns 34 next month and has missed a chunk of this season through injury.

Having already missed out on a few targets over the past couple of windows, thought to be Jorginho, Fred and Frenkie de Jong, Onda Cero claims that their search has led them to the Spanish transfer market.

Rodri has featured 37 times for Atletico in all competitions this season, as well as racking up three more caps for the Spain senior side, and is deemed indispensable by boss Diego Simeone.

However, the 22-year-old is said to have a €70m (£60m) release clause inserted into his contract, which makes him affordable to City.
