Roberto Mancini insists that Nigel de Jong will not leave Man City this summer amid interest from Inter Milan.

Roberto Mancini has insisted that Nigel de Jong will not leave Manchester City this transfer window amid reported interest from Inter Milan.

The defensive midfielder has been linked with the Italian giants, among other clubs, after featuring less regularly for City last season.

Even with the arrival of Jack Rodwell, Mancini is reluctant to lose the Dutch international and has dismissed any chances of him joining Inter this summer.

Mancini said: "I don't think Inter Milan want De Jong - De Jong stays here."

The 27-year-old joined the Citizens in 2009 in an £18m deal from Hamburg.
