Andre Villas-Boas says that Tottenham Hotspur are not aiming to win the Premier League title this season.

Tottenham Hotspur manager Andre Villas-Boas has dismissed the idea that his side can win the Premier League this season.

Spurs defeated Manchester United 3-2 at Old Trafford on Saturday to climb up to fifth in the table on 11 points, five points behind leaders Chelsea.

"A couple of days ago, we were exactly the opposite," Villas-Boas is quoted as saying by ESPN. "This is a very special night for us but our quest is to qualify for the Champions League.

"It is very difficult to go for the title. We understand it is a place where the great teams of this country belong.

"We want to win a trophy this season - and we want Champions League qualification."

Villas-Boas was appointed the Tottenham manager at the start of the season.
