Sir Alex Ferguson is confident of beating Real Madrid

Sir Alex Ferguson shows his confidence in beating Real Madrid by suggesting that April's Manchester derby will have to be rescheduled due to the Champions League quarter-finals.

Sir Alex Ferguson has suggested that he is confident of beating Real Madrid in the Champions League, claiming that Manchester United's subsequent Premier League fixtures will need to be changed.

The Red Devils are currently scheduled to play Manchester City on Monday, April 8, the same week as the Champions League quarter-finals.

United drew 1-1 in Madrid last week, with the return leg of their round-of-16 tie on March 5, and Ferguson can see his side getting into the last eight.

When asked about his preparation for the City game, Ferguson told the Daily Telegraph: "That game won't be played on a Monday."

The Scot also insisted that his players will be fully motivated for their FA Cup match on Monday against Reading.

"There is the incentive of getting to a quarter-final," he added. "We will know the draw [for the next round] too as it's on a Sunday. I don't think we will have any problem with that."

United face the Royals tomorrow night at 8pm.
