Wayne Rooney: 'We weren't at our best'

Wayne Rooney admits that Manchester United didn't perform well during Wednesday's 3-1 win over Braga in the Champions League.

Wayne Rooney has admitted that Manchester United performed below par during Wednesday's 3-1 win over Braga in the Champions League.

Goals from Rooney, substitute Robin van Persie and Javier Hernandez helped the Red Devils come from behind in Portugal and seal their passage into the last 16 of the competition.

"There's been a few tough games and sometimes we've made hard work of it, to be honest," said the striker.

"Tonight it was a difficult night and we maybe weren't at our best but we won the game and that's all we can ask.

"Thankfully we're through now and top of the group. We're happy with that."

United return to Premier League action on Saturday when they face Aston Villa at Villa Park.
