Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana hopes to be fit for Sunday's Premier League clash with Everton, according to a report.

Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana is reportedly hopeful of being fit for Sunday's Premier League clash with Everton at Goodison Park.

The 27-year-old suffered a pelvic injury during Cameroon's international fixture with Mauritius on Friday, which led to him pulling out of the squad ahead of his country's next game with Libya.

Onana is understood to have returned to the United Kingdom on Sunday to undergo medical examinations, with Man United looking to identify the route of the problem.

The injury immediately made him a major doubt for his club's Premier League clash at Everton this weekend, but according to ESPN, the goalkeeper is hopeful of being available for selection.

The report claims that the issue is not serious, and the club are also believed to be confident of having the summer arrival available for the contest on Merseyside.

Onana has found it difficult to show his best form for Man United in the early stages of his time at the club.

The goalkeeper has already conceded 30 times in 18 appearances in all competitions, keeping just six clean sheets, but he has helped the Red Devils produce shutouts in their last two Premier League games.

Either side of the chaotic 4-3 loss to Copenhagen in the Champions League, Man United managed to beat both Fulham and Luton Town 1-0 in England's top flight.

Erik ten Hag's side, amid a host of criticism, have actually won four of their last five in the Premier League, which has moved them up into sixth position in the table.

A final decision on Onana's availability for the trip to Everton is not expected to be made until later in the week, while the club are also sweating on the fitness of Rasmus Hojlund.

The 20-year-old suffered a muscular strain during the clash with Luton ahead of the international break, and he will need to be assessed before a decision is made on his potential involvement this weekend.

Marcus Rashford recovered from a blow that he picked up against Malta to feature in England's clash with North Macedonia on Monday, and he is set to be available against Everton.

Ten Hag will again be missing a number of important players, though, with Casemiro, Lisandro Martinez, Christian Eriksen, Jonny Evans, Tyrell Malacia, Luke Shaw and Amad Diallo on the sidelines through injury.

Should Onana ultimately be ruled out of this weekend's clash, there would likely be a debut between the sticks for Turkey international Altay Bayindir, who arrived from Fenerbahce over the summer.
