Robin van Persie returns to training

Ahead of the Manchester derby, Manchester United striker Robin van Persie returns to full training following an ankle injury.

Robin van Persie has revealed that he took part in a training session with his Manchester United teammates today.

The striker has been sidelined for United's last six matches with an ankle injury that he picked up during the 2-1 defeat away at Swansea City in February.

There had been suggestions that the 31-year-old would not be fit enough to return to action until May, but ahead of Sunday's Manchester derby, he has indicated that his comeback date is now not too far away.

"Back to training with the group today. Was a great session. Happy to be fit and able to play again. Looking forward to my next game," he wrote on Twitter.

The Dutch international has scored 10 goals from his 26 outings in all competitions this season.
