Hello, and welcome to Sports Mole's live coverage of the match in the Premier League between West Bromwich Albion and Manchester United.

For varying reasons, you wouldn't have expected these two teams to be battling over sixth position in the Premier League but that's exactly what they have been doing over the past few weeks. However, rather than wilt under the pressure - if you can call it that - both teams have put together their best run of the season and they head into this fixture as two of the in-form sides in the division. An unbeaten seven-game run from United is nothing out of the ordinary but for the Baggies, they have matched Jose Mourinho's side with 13 points from just six games - their only defeat coming at Chelsea. This has all the makings of a tight contest.

Anyway, let's cracking with the starting lineups...

First of all, let's run you through the Manchester United side with Jose Mourinho making three alterations to the team which beat Crystal Palace on Wednesday night. At the back, Antonio Valencia and Matteo Darmian have returned to the team in place of Eric Bailly and Daley Blind, while further forward, Jesse Lingard comes in for Juan Mata. Wayne Rooney is given a second start in three days as he plays in behind Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

As for West Brom, Tony Pulis makes just the one change from the team which started the 3-1 victory at home to Swansea City. Craig Dawson is handed an immediate recall to the team with James Morrison dropping out. That also means that Chris Brunt is moved further forward after deputising at left-back. However, there is no Jonny Evans, who has failed to recover from injury in time to face his former club.

HEAD TO HEAD! Today's match represents the 129th time that these two teams have met in a competitive match, with West Brom winning 43 times in comparison to 54 victories for United. There was a time not so long ago where United were completely dominant but that has changed since the departure of Sir Alex Ferguson. Since the Baggies drew 5-5 with United in the legendary Scot's final game, West Brom have won three of the six matches between the sides, with United winning twice.

The most recent match between the two teams came in March when the Baggies came out winners by a 1-0 scoreline. That encounter included a sending off too but rather than reveal all here, have a read of our on-the-whistle report from earlier in the year.

We've touched upon the fact that United go into this match having avoided defeat in their last seven matches but it is the manner of those results which will impress their supporters the most. While United will inevitably canter to victory on occasions, they have had to grind out results in recent weeks, including the narrow successes over both Tottenham Hotspur and Crystal Palace. During both of those games, they were easily the better team but because the goals didn't flow, they were left relying on their defence getting them over the line. The way they are playing, they will hand a heavy defeat out to one of their future opponents and while it's unlikely to be a well-drilled West Brom team, don't rule it out.

The man entrusted with leading the United attack all season has been Ibrahimovic and right now, he's one of the form players in the division. He has scored five goals in his last five outings, while he has also added to his tally in both the EFL Cup and Europa League. West Brom will have to focus on more than just the Swedish legend but they can go a long way towards gaining a result tonight by stopping him in his tracks.

Much of West Brom's success has come from a team effort but Salomon Rondon stole the headlines on Wednesday night with a 13-minute hat-trick which came from three headers. Rondon hasn't been prolific since joining the club in August 2015 but he is the perfect "Tony Pulis striker" and now that he is adding more goals to his game, West Brom are moving up the standings. At one stage this season, Pulis was tipped to get the sack but he has put the platform in place for his team to go on to record a top-10 finish this season.

While I say West Brom and Rondon are not the most prolific, the club have scored 10 goals in their last three Premier League fixtures. Burnley, Watford and Swansea City haven't exactly provided the toughest opposition but they are results which only fill the West Midlands outfit with belief ahead of kickoff, especially after they were thrashed 4-0 by Manchester City before the start of their current run.

PREDICTION! Difficult one to call, this. West Brom have been excellent over the past few weeks and should rise to the occasion in front of their own fans. However, United are also performing a lot nearer to the top of their capabilities than they were doing and they should have enough quality to record another win this evening. We are going for a 3-1 win for Mourinho's team.

It's time for the teams to start making their way out to a boisterous welcome from the two sets of supporters. It may not be November 5 but he could get fireworks in this one.

West Brom get us underway.

It's been a positive start from the home team who end a spell of possession with a long-range effort from Chadli which goes over the crossbar.

Jesse Lingard - take a bow. The midfielder - recalled by Mourinho for this game - whips in a brilliant cross on the half-volley and Ibrahimovic is perfectly placed to power a header into the bottom corner from eight yards out.

That goal has shaken West Brom, who had been the better side before falling behind. Rooney could have added a second after meeting a cross in a similar position but a defender was there to get in the block.

CHANCE! The Baggies come within inches of finding an equaliser. Brunt's corner towards the far post was flicked on towards the far post but it didn't find the far corner. I'm not sure if Olsson or Ibrahimovic got the final touch but a goal kick was given.

I expected West Brom to try to play with a higher tempo but they have reverted to the pace which United want to play at. They need to get in the faces of their opponents because right now, it's too easy for the visitors in open play.

United remain fully in control of this match and they should make it two after a clever move down the left finds Rooney in the penalty area. However, the captain tries to be too clever and his attempted flick across the box doesn't come off. It was almost too easy.

WOODWORK! I think Rooney has learned his lesson. After receiving the ball on the edge of the penalty area, he decides on the more direct route on goal and his 20-yard striker is superbly tipped onto the crossbar by Foster.

BOOKING! Ibrahimovic goes into the book for a charge/elbow on Dawson. It's a difficult one to call because it's an aggressive challenge but he kept his elbow down.

SHOT! After a lull in play, West Brom finally make the most of having the ball in the corner of the pitch but Brunt's shot is straight at De Gea. The Baggies need to try to get Rondon into the game. He's been a passenger so far.

CHANCE! Moments after I say that, the forward directs a free header wide of the post. Phillips's cross was excellent but I think it was marginally too high for Rondon and the ball sprayed off his head and went several yards off target.

West Brom have failed to build on that chance and are now back passing the ball between themselves in their own half. It feels as though they are trying to pace their way through this game but I can't see how they are going to earn a result without pushing United back on a frequent basis.

As we approach half time, we have entered a period where I think both teams are already looking ahead to the break. The game is almost being played at the pace of a friendly, for large parts anyway.

CHANCE! West Brom burst into life with a well-worked, fast-paced move which leaves United chasing shadows but the final shot comes from former United midfielder Fletcher, who completely miscues his effort and it hits a teammate before being cleared.

CHANCE! United should be going into the break with a 2-0 lead. Darmain completely shanks an attempt at a half-volley but it ends up being the perfect pass for Lingard, who controls the ball before blazing into the stands from 14 yards out. He has to score there.

There will be one minute of added-on time.

The half-time whistle goes at The Hawthorns and United still lead thanks to that early header from Ibrahimovic. The visitors have been the better side but West Brom have also had their moments in the final third. They are second best, however, and Pulis needs to change something at the break.

We are back underway. Neither manager has decided to make a change, although James Morrison did a warm-up at half time which suggested that he may not be too far away from being introduced.

West Brom started this half brightly but United have settled back into a rhythm. Rooney should have done a lot better when receiving the ball on the edge of the box but his attempt at one extra pass ended up with West Brom regaining possession.

BOOKING! Dawson has just returned from a suspension but he has moved closer to another one with a yellow card for a clumsy challenge on Ibrahimovic. He can't really have any complaints there.

There's already a sense of frustration building at The Hawthorns. The home supporters were unhappy with a couple of decisions before the break and that seems to have been carried over into this second half.

SHOT! That's on the ambitious side from Pogba but I suppose he has the quality to pull it off. He attempted to lob Foster from over 50 yards but the goalkeeper got back easily enough.

I'd say that is game over. Rooney does well before playing the ball to Ibrahimovic on the right-side of the penalty area. After cutting inside, the Swede sent a shot towards goal and although it was deflected, it found the bottom corner of Foster's net.

BOOKING! Lingard goes into the book for failing to retreat 10 yards from a free kick. It all seemed a bit needless at this stage of the game.

There's the potential for this game to peter out a little now. I'm not writing off West Brom but they need t do something different. That's been the most disappointing part about their performance. They've not changed anything.

BOOKINGS! Rojo and Rondon have both gone into the book after a strong challenge from Rondon before the striker pushed Rojo in the face. Dangerous territory. Rondon should probably be sent off.

There are plenty of substitutes warming up on the touchline but we are still awaiting the first change. This would be a good moment for Mourinho to rest a couple of his star men.

SHOT! We've not seen a whole lot of Pogba tonight but he keeps trying to get into the game with speculative strikes. On this occasion, it was a volley from around 30 yards out but it was always going to be easy work for Foster.

SUBSTITUTION! That's the end of Dawson's night as he is replaced by Morrison. I'm assuming that will see Brunt go to left-back.

West Brom win a free kick on the side of the penalty area after Darmain brings down Nyom. The Baggies have to make the most of these situations...

It looks like McAuley should score after leaping above the defence but Ibrahimovic is on hand to get in the headed clearance.

SUBSTITUTION! United finally make their first change of the night with Marcus Rashford replacing Lingard. Will the youngster break his 14-game goalless streak?

There's now less than 10 minutes to go at The Hawthorns. Time is rapidly running out for West Brom to get anything from this game.

SUBSTITUTIONS! Hal Robson-Kanu and Jonathan Leko have come on to replace Chadli and Phillips.

SUBSTITUTION! The next alteration comes for United, with Mourinho replacing Rooney with Marouane Fellaini.

BOOKING! I think that comes under the section labelled 'blatant shoulder barge'. It's a booking for Brunt after a cynical foul on Rashford, who was threatening to sprint away from him.

There will be four minutes of added-on time.

SUBSTITUTION! Mourinho takes the opportunity to hand a return to Chris Smalling after seven weeks out. He will replace Herrera.

The full-time whistle goes at The Hawthorns and United have eased to a 2-0 win over West Brom. Neither side played to their best but United were always comfortable against a Baggies side who under-performed after a busy week. United move level on points with fifth-placed Tottenham Hotspur.
