FA 'will defy Louis van Gaal and select Luke Shaw'

The FA may defy Louis van Gaal's wishes and select Manchester United defender Luke Shaw for this summer's European Under-21 Championship.

The Football Association will reportedly overrule any opposition from Louis van Gaal if Luke Shaw is selected for international duty this summer.

The Manchester United defender could feature in England's Under-21 squad for the European Championships.

The 19-year-old has been plagued by injuries this season, and the Daily Mail reports that United manager Van Gaal wants the left-back to be rested during the close-season.

However, the FA will reportedly defy the Dutchman if Shaw is fit and is willing to play.

England under-21s coach Gareth Southgate will annouce his squad on Wednesday.
