Sir Alex Ferguson: 'Draw was fair result'

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson believes that a point was fair after his side's 1-1 draw with Liverpool.

Sir Alex Ferguson has said that a draw was a fair result after his side salvaged a point against Liverpool at Anfield.

Steven Gerrard's free kick put the hosts ahead, but Javier Hernandez's header 10 minutes from time saw United return to Old Trafford with a share of the spoils.

"I didn't think they were really threatening until they scored the goal but then the game opened up and we took the chance," Ferguson told Sky Sports News. "In the context of today the result is fair."

The Scot was also critical of referee Andre Marriner's decision to award Liverpool the free kick from which Gerrard scored.

"It was very difficult," he added. "The referee is under a lot of pressure and I'm not surprised they got the free-kick."

United have now slipped to second in the Premier League table after local rivals Manchester City defeated Aston Villa 4-1.
