Sir Alex Ferguson believes that the Manchester United fans "inspired" the team to their 3-2 comeback victory over Aston Villa.

Sir Alex Ferguson has hailed the Manchester United fans for their support of the team against Aston Villa on Saturday.

The Red Devils manager says that the players were "inspired" by the travelling supporters to come from 2-0 down to win the Premier League encounter 3-2 at Villa Park.

"The supporters were fantastic," Ferguson told MUTV. "[Birmingham] is one of the local games for us now, in a way.

"You saw them today - they were great. We were inspired by that. There's no doubt that with great support like that you get inspired and you do something for it."

United remain at the top of the Premier League table with 27 points from 11 matches.
