Former Manchester United chief executive David Gill is reportedly expected to be elected as FIFA vice-president.

The 57-year-old, who spent 16 years working with United, is running against Welsh FA president Trefor Lloyd Hughes for the position.

According to The Mirror, Gill is widely expected to be voted in and will replace Jim Boyce of Northern Ireland on the world governing body's executive committee in May.

Gill decided to step down from his role at Old Trafford when former manager Sir Alex Ferguson announced his retirement in 2013.
