England manager Roy Hodgson believes that Manchester United defender Luke Shaw will benefit from having featured at the World Cup finals.
Shaw impressed during England's final group fixture with Costa Rica, and after the 18-year-old secured a move to Old Trafford yesterday, Hodgson has insisted that the former Southampton full-back can match the achievements of Ashley Cole.
Hodgson told the Football Association's official website: "I really do think Luke has got tremendous quality. I think that he's really an Ashley Cole in the making.
"I think that the experience of the World Cup will do him good and I also think that he will be a very useful player for us in games where we can use that enormous power he has going forward."
Shaw's appearance against Costa Rica was his third international cap for his country.
