Manchester United midfielder Michael Carrick says that he has no plans for retirement, insisting that he intends to assess matters at the end of each season.

Manchester United midfielder Michael Carrick has revealed that he has no intention of making any decisions on his future until next summer.

Earlier this year, there was a suggestion that Carrick could hang up his boots at the end of his previous contract, but he has since penned a new 12-month deal at Old Trafford.

Carrick has previously suggested that he will play for no English team other than United but despite turning 36 in July, he has not ruled out continuing his career past the end of this campaign.

The 35-year-old is quoted by The Mirror as saying: "I haven't got an age in mind really, I need to just take it year by year. I said that last year, I said it the year before and I'll say it again next year too."

Carrick made a total of 38 appearances in all competitions last season.
