Jose Mourinho's agent Jorge Mendes will reportedly fly to England to complete a deal for his client to become the new Manchester United boss next week.
Mourinho has been heavily linked with the Old Trafford post since being sacked by Chelsea in December, and numerous reports suggested yesterday that the move was finally on the brink of happening.
It was initially thought that a deal could be announced by United as early as Monday, but the Manchester Evening News now suggests that Mendes will conduct talks with the club on Tuesday.
Incumbent manager Louis van Gaal appeared to confirm that he was leaving the club earlier today, telling reporters outside the team's hotel that "it's over".
The latest reports of Mourinho replacing Van Gaal surfaced shortly after the Dutchman had steered United to their first major trophy since Sir Alex Ferguson left the club with victory in the FA Cup final yesterday.
However, his failure to secure Champions League football for next season looks to have cost him his job as United focus on three-time Premier League winner Mourinho.
