Danny Simpson says that he is out to "prove a point" to Alex Ferguson when he returns to Old Trafford.

Danny Simpson has said that he is out to "prove a point" to Alex Ferguson when he returns to Old Trafford with Newcastle tomorrow (Saturday).

Simpson was a product of the United academy and made three appearances for the Red Devils before being snapped up by Newcastle.

"I always have something to prove to Sir Alex," the 24-year-old said.

"I'm a United fan. I had a good time there but I'm part of a good Newcastle team now.

"I go back to Old Trafford looking to play well and to prove a point."

Newcastle are four points off Manchester United in the Premier League table.
