Chelsea captain John Terry: 'Didier Drogba still a top player'

Chelsea skipper John Terry backs Didier Drogba to perform against Manchester United this weekend.

Chelsea captain John Terry has insisted that veteran forward Didier Drogba still has what it takes to make an impact in the Premier League.

The Blues are facing a striker crisis ahead of this weekend's visit to Manchester United, with Diego Costa injured and Loic Remy doubtful, but Terry has backed the Ivorian to step up in their absence.

"We've got a big squad; Didier came on and showed what a great player he still is," the Daily Star quotes the defender as saying.

"The players are showing how important the depth of our squad could be this season. As the manager rightly says, everybody's got a part to play and we've seen that in the last few games."

Drogba has been tipped to lead the attack against United, although Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho could opt to play Andre Schurrle in a central position up front.
