Tottenham Hotspur score for a club record 33rd league game in a row in their pulsating 2-2 draw with Manchester United at Old Trafford.

Tottenham Hotspur wrote a new chapter of club history in their 2-2 Premier League draw with Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday evening.

The Lilywhites came from behind on two occasions to hold the Red Devils to a point in front of their new stakeholder Sir Jim Ratcliffe, watching on from the stands for the very first time.

A thunderous Rasmus Hojlund finish sent Man United ahead early doors, but Erik ten Hag's side were only a goal to the good for 16 minutes, as Richarlison headed home his sixth goal from as many Premier League matches.

Marcus Rashford's crisp finish restored the hosts' slender advantage before the half-time whistle blew, but just seconds after the restart, Rodrigo Bentancur collected a pass from debutant Timo Werner and fired Tottenham level again.

As well as leaving the Theatre of Dreams with a hard-earned point, Tottenham's two-goal showing means that they have now scored in 33 league games on the bounce, a new club record for the North London giants.

Not since the first weekend of March - a 1-0 loss to Wolverhampton Wanderers - have the Lilywhites been shut out in a top-flight fixture, while they also avoided defeat after going behind at Old Trafford for just the third time in 25 such instances.

Spurs have taken a respectable four points from their six fixtures with Man United this season, having overcome the Red Devils 2-0 in August, but they missed the chance to complete their first-ever Premier League double over their hosts.

Not since Terry Venables was in the hotseat in 1989-90 have Spurs bested Man United on two occasions in a top-flight campaign, but given his side's lengthy list of absentees, Ange Postecoglou did not have a bad word to say about his players after the game.

"I thought it was an outstanding performance considering the challenges we had in putting a team out there today. It's a difficult place to come and play, obviously a big game for United as well," football.london quotes Postecoglou as saying in his post-game press conference.

"A win today would have given them some momentum. We got a goal down pretty early and this group of players just every time we've had to deal with adversity have just done it in an outstanding manner. I couldn't be prouder of them.

"It was an outstanding effort and I thought some of our football was fantastic. I thought we were unlucky not to win the game. Irrespective of that, the performance and the effort the boys put in was first rate."

An already-depleted Tottenham were struck down by illness ahead of the trip to Manchester, where Dejan Kulusevski was nowhere to be seen after coming down with the bug which has been sweeping its way through the Spurs squad.

Postecoglou also revealed that Oliver Skipp and Destiny Udogie - two starters at Old Trafford - had also come down with the virus, while Ryan Sessegnon rejoined Spurs' injury list before the game with a slight niggle.

However, the Australian was able to hand Lilywhites debuts to both Werner and Radu Dragusin, the latter of whom came on as a second-half substitute after his permanent arrival from Genoa.

Tottenham are now level on points with Arsenal in fifth place in the Premier League table - albeit having played a game more - and their next game comes against the Red Devils' bitter rivals Manchester City in the FA Cup fourth round on January 26.
