Louis Van Gaal: 'I'll quit Manchester United if I ever lose dressing room'

Louis van Gaal insists that the team chemistry at Manchester United is not an issue, although he admits that he will quit the club should he lose dressing room support.

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has revealed that he will quit the club should he no longer have the full backing of his players.

The Red Devils boss has faced severe criticism in recent times due to the lack of tempo in his side's play and a perceived long-ball style of football.

Paul Parker became the latest ex-United star to slam his former team when he claimed that the "negative" approach adopted by the club was "painful" to watch.

Rumours emerged earlier this month suggesting that assistant Ryan Giggs is also unhappy with events at Old Trafford following his subdued choice of celebration in the late victory over Newcastle United.

However, Van Gaal is confident that each of his players fully believes in him, while also insisting that the dressing room spirit is not a problem.

"When I think the chemistry between the players and the manager is not good enough anymore, then I go," the Dutchman is quoted as saying by Goal.com.

"It is not a question, I can go for myself also. I am in my first season here and I can still win the title, but that will probably go to Chelsea. What we have to do is continue in our process. But we have been in the top four longer than Arsenal this season. That is true."

United were knocked out of the FA Cup by Arsenal earlier this week, and now their attention is firmly focused on keeping hold of a top-four spot in the Premier League ahead of the visit of Tottenham Hotspur this afternoon.
