Nigel Winterburn: 'Arsenal must beat Manchester United'

Former Arsenal defender Nigel Winterburn says that the Gunners must win against Manchester United on Wednesday to keep their title ambitions alive.

Former Arsenal defender Nigel Winterburn has said that the Gunners "have to win" against Manchester United on Wednesday to keep their Premier League title hopes alive.

Arsenal lost 5-1 against Liverpool on Saturday, while United drew 2-2 with Fulham on Sunday at Old Trafford.

Winterburn told talkSPORT: "Arsenal have to win, it's quite simple. They've got to show some character, they've got to beat a Manchester United team that's not in great form.

"They have some fantastic players but they're not playing to their full potential. If Arsenal don't win then everybody will write them off.

"I believe over the next couple of seasons Arsenal will win a trophy. It may be too early for them this season but it looks as if things are moving forward in the club, rather than going reverse as it has done over the last three seasons."

Arsenal missed the chance to go 11 points clear of Liverpool after the loss, while United are now seventh in the table.
