Team News: Wayne Rooney returns for Manchester United against Norwich City

Louis van Gaal gives Wayne Rooney his 500th appearance for Manchester United in their clash with Norwich City.

Wayne Rooney has returned to the Manchester United starting lineup to make his 500th appearance for the club in this afternoon's meeting with Norwich City.

The striker, who has missed the last three outings with an ankle problem, returns alongside fellow injury absentees Ashley Young, Phil Jones and Chris Smalling as Louis van Gaal makes four changes from last weekend's 2-1 defeat to Bournemouth.

Norwich, meanwhile, make the one change from the side that drew with Everton as Andre Wisdom comes in for Elliott Bennett for Alex Neil's 4-4-1-1 formation.

The Red Devils are looking to end a five-game winless streak this afternoon while Norwich have not tasted victory in four.

Man United: De Gea; Young, Jones, Smalling, Blind; Carrick, Fellaini; Memphis, Mata, Martial; Rooney

Norwich: Rudd; Martin, Bennett, Bassong, Olsson; Redmond, O'Neil, Tettey, Brady; Hoolahan; Jerome
