Sam Allardyce rules out moves for Andy Carroll and Dimitar Berbatov this summer.

West Ham manager Sam Allardyce has admitted that he does not think Andy Carroll or Dimitar Berbatov will join West Ham United this summer.

The Hammers are one of a number of clubs to make an enquiry on Carroll's availability but no progress has been made.

Allardyce told Sky Sports News: "We talked to Liverpool but at the moment nothing is progressing regarding Andy.

"Andy's yet to make his mind up where his future lies, he's on holiday. And the negotiations with Liverpool haven't reached a situation where we've been able to agree. So we'll move on to other players."

United boss Allardyce also dismissed talk that Berbatov could make a move to Upton Park.

He said: "That's pure speculation. I haven't had a chat with Sir Alex.

"A statement came out from Dimitar saying he was available for £5 million, everyone knows we're looking for a striker, so they say we're in for him."

Allardyce remains on the hunt for new players ahead of the Hammers' Premier League opener against Aston Villa on August 18.
