Manchester United are allegedly contacted by a number of Premier League clubs over the possibility of signing Antony on loan during the winter transfer window.

Manchester United have reportedly been contacted by a number of Premier League clubs over the possibility of signing Antony on loan during the January transfer window.

The Red Devils paid Ajax in the region of £86m for Antony in the summer of 2022, but the 24-year-old has struggled to make his mark at Old Trafford, only managing 12 goals and five assists in 86 appearances.

Antony has been restricted to just four outings in all competitions this term, with just two of those appearances coming in the Premier League, and there is currently a host of speculation surrounding his future.

According to Goal Brasil, a number of Premier League teams have been in touch with Man United to discuss the possibility of signing the Brazilian on loan for the second half of the 2024-25 campaign.

The report claims that Antony is also open to returning to Ajax, although it has been reported that the Dutch giants have concerns over re-signing the forward, who turned out for the 36-time Eredivisie champions between 2020 and 2022.

Man United's Antony 'wanted on loan by Premier League clubs'

According to De Telegraaf, Ajax have concerns over Antony's mindset, with senior figures at the club believed to be considering whether it would be the right move to negotiate a potential return.

Antony has played the best football of his career with Ajax, scoring 24 goals and registering 22 assists in 82 appearances for the Dutch outfit, but he has been unable to make his mark in the Premier League.

The Brazilian has only managed five goals and three assists in 56 Premier League appearances for Man United, and there is no clear route for him back into the starting side at this moment in time.

Antony is in the Red Devils squad for Thursday's Europa League clash with Fenerbahce, but he is highly unlikely to start and could once again be an unused substitute, with Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho and Amad Diallo all ahead of him in the pecking order.

Should Man United let Antony leave?

There was so much expectation when Antony moved to Man United, but he has not been able to make his mark at the club.

Antony has only played 27 minutes of Premier League football this season, and it does seem best for all parties that he moves on in 2025, but the forward's significant wages will make an exit complicated.

The Brazilian is believed to collect in the region of £200,000 a week, with his deal having another three years left to run and also including the option to extend for a further 12 months.

Man United will therefore have to make a huge loss on Antony if he is to leave, but the situation cannot continue as it is, and a loan departure in January ahead of a potential permanent exit next summer makes a lot of sense.
