Barcelona 'draw up five-player shortlist'

Barcelona reportedly compile a shortlist of five left-backs who they feel that they could sign on loan during the January transfer window.

Barcelona reportedly put together a five-strong list of left-backs who may be able to move to Camp Nou on loan.

Jordi Alba is currently the clear first choice in that position, the 32-year-old making a total of 20 starts in all competitions.

However, writing on Twitter, journalist Gerard Romero says that manager Xavi wants to bring in more experience in that position, rather than relying on a versatile or younger deputy.

Romero claims that Manchester United's Alex Telles and Ajax's Nicolas Tagliafico are among the players who Barcelona may target over the next two weeks.

Juventus' Alex Sandro, Borussia Dortmund's Raphael Guerreiro and Villarreal's Alfonso Pedraza are said to complete the list of potential arrivals.

Depending on who they target and the willingness of the other club to pay a portion of their wages, Barcelona may first have to free up space on their wage bill to accommodate any new arrival.
