Barcelona reportedly make contact with Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata, who has less than six months remaining on his contract.

Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata has reportedly attracted interest from Barcelona.

Mata has less than six months left on his contract at Old Trafford, and although the playmaker could still pen fresh terms, the possibility remains of a free transfer at the end of the season.

Arsenal have been linked with an approach for the former Chelsea man, but Goal.com reports that Barcelona are also weighing up a possible move for the Spain international.

The Catalan giants are well stocked for options in the final third, but an opportunity to bring in Mata without being required to pay a fee could prove too good to turn down.

Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain are also said to be monitoring the situation, although Mata is likely to join a club where he will be given regular first-team opportunities having only made 11 starts in all competitions during the current campaign.
