Bayern Munich CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge claims that Manchester City and Manchester United target Erling Braut Haaland will stay with Borussia Dortmund next season.

Bayern Munich CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has stated that Manchester City and Manchester United target Erling Braut Haaland will stay with Borussia Dortmund next season.

The 21-year-old has been heavily linked with a move away from the Bundesliga outfit in the summer of 2022, when his €75m (£64.39m) release clause becomes active.

However, Rummenigge has revealed that the Norwegian striker is set to stay put at Signal Iduna Park after holding talks with Dortmund chief Aki Watzke.

"I recently had an espresso with my ex-colleague Aki Watzke in Munich. He told me that he was very optimistic that Haaland would still play for Borussia Dortmund next season," Rummenigge said in his column for Bild.

Haaland has emerged as one of the hottest properties in world football after scoring 70 goals in just 69 appearances across all competitions for BVB, with Man City, Man United and Bayern set to battle the likes of Chelsea, Liverpool, Real Madrid and Barcelona for the striker's services.

Pep Guardiola remains keen to recruit a new centre-forward in one of the upcoming transfer windows, while United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer – who came close to signing Haaland from Red Bull Salzburg in December 2019 – is also a huge admirer of his compatriot.

It has previously been reported that Haaland would demand a salary worth £500,000 per week, across a five-year contract, which would see the striker earn around £30m per season.
