Manchester United reportedly remain firmly in the hunt for Arsenal striker Robin van Persie.
The 29-year-old is expected to depart the Gunners this summer after refusing to extend his contract beyond next season, and it is understood that Sir Alex Ferguson is keen on the Dutchman.
The Scot will be among the guests at the Labour Party Sports Dinner on Wednesday at the Emirates Stadium, and according to The Sun, a meet between the pair could take place.
Manchester City reportedly remain in the race, but Ferguson wants to pair Van Persie with Wayne Rooney in attack next season.
