Liverpool have allegedly identified Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite as a potential summer transfer target.
Jurgen Klopp's side are currently enduring one of their worst top-flight campaigns in recent memory, sitting in 10th position in the Premier League standings.
While Liverpool have sometimes struggled in the final third, it has been their defence and midfield which has come under constant scrutiny.
As many as 28 goals have been conceded in 20 league fixtures this season, including three strikes in each of their away matches with Brentford, Brighton & Hove Albion and Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Although a number of fresh faces in midfield have been suggested, talk has been less frequent about possible additions at the back.

According to the Daily Mail, Liverpool have plans to send scouts to assess the development of Branthwaite.
With Everton having heavily strengthened in defence over the past 12 months, it was decided that a temporary switch elsewhere was the best solution for the England Under-20 international.
Branthwaite has been provided with regular game time at PSV, making 10 starts and seven substitute outings in Eredivisie and European fixtures.
PSV allegedly wanted to turn the loan move into a permanent deal in January, only for Everton to reject bids of up to £15m for the youngster.

However, it now appears that Branthwaite will generate widespread interest in his signature once he has returned from his spell in the Netherlands.
The report claims that Manchester United and Roma also plan to send scouts to watch Branthwaite over the coming weeks.
Just under two-and-a-half years remain on his contract at Goodison Park, terms which are unlikely to be extended if Everton are relegated from the Premier League.
James Tarkowski, Conor Coady and Ben Godfrey are currently ahead of Branthwaite in the Everton pecking order, with other centre-backs such as Yerry Mina and Michael Keane potentially leaving the club at the end of the season.
