Liverpool will reportedly make an attempt to sign Napoli centre-back Kalidou Koulibaly during the January transfer window.
Having established a reputation as one of the top centre-backs in Europe, Koulibaly was tipped to move to the Premier League over the summer, with Liverpool, Manchester United and Manchester City all credited with an interest.
However, with Napoli supposedly not prepared to accept any bids lower than £75m, Koulibaly ultimately stayed put in Italy, where he has already turned out six times for the Serie A giants this season.
Liverpool are believed to be stepping up their interest in Koulibaly, though, with Calciomercato reporting that the Reds will try once more to prise the Senegal international away from Naples in January.
With Virgil van Dijk potentially out for the season and fears arising over the length of Fabinho's layoff, the report claims that Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is desperate to bring in defensive reinforcements as soon as possible.
Koulibaly is under contract at Napoli until 2023.
