Manchester United are reportedly considering using Paul Pogba as part of a deal to sign Real Madrid centre-back Raphael Varane during this summer's transfer window.
The Red Devils are seemingly determined to bring Varane to Old Trafford, and it is understood that Los Blancos have now given the English giants the green light to begin negotiations with the France international.
Real Madrid are expected to fight to keep hold of the World Cup winner, though, and it is unlikely to be a straightforward deal for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side.
According to AS, Man United would be prepared to allow Pogba to move to the Bernabeu if it meant that they were able to bring Varane to Manchester.
The midfielder's contract with the 20-time English champions is due to expire next summer, and there remains widespread speculation surrounding his future at Old Trafford.
Pogba, who enjoyed a strong Euro 2020 for the world champions, could also allegedly be used as part of a swap deal for Juventus attacker Cristiano Ronaldo.
