Manchester United reportedly table an offer of £12m to Everton for full-back Leighton Baines.

Manchester United have reportedly stepped up their pursuit of Everton full-back Leighton Baines by lodging a bid for the England international.

The Premier League champions, who will be led by new manager David Moyes next season, have been heavily linked with Baines for some time.

Speculation increased when Moyes left Goodison Park to take the reins at Old Trafford following Sir Alex Ferguson's decision to retire after 26 years at the club.

The Red Devils have attempted to step up the transfer by lodging a bid in the region of £10m to £12m, according to The Times.

Despite rumours over his future, Baines has claimed that he is looking forward to working under new Everton boss Roberto Martinez.
