Manchester United are reportedly keeping a close eye on developments surrounding Ajax midfielder Donny van de Beek.
The 23-year-old has been linked with a move away from the Eredivisie giants for several months now and was left out of Ajax's squad for their recent friendly with Eintracht Frankfurt.
Van de Beek supposedly wants to see whether Barcelona make an attempt to sign him before deciding on his future, but while the Catalan giants are interested in the midfielder, they are unlikely to make any acquisitions amid the Lionel Messi transfer saga.
According to Sky Sports News, Van de Beek is open to a move to the Premier League and the Netherlands international is firmly on United's radar ahead of the new campaign.
However, the report claims that the Red Devils are likely to face stiff competition for Van de Beek's signature, and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is still determined to strike a deal for Borussia Dortmund's Jadon Sancho.
Van de Beek has registered 41 goals in 175 games for Ajax across all competitions, and the midfielder is under contract with the Eredivisie powerhouses until 2022.
